Who we are

Amara Legal: legal AI built with lawyers

Amara has been developed by Neurogestión SL in Madrid since 2022. It was born in Spain and is now coming to the United States with the same principle: the AI prepares, the attorney decides.

  • Available in the US today
  • Data stored in the EU
  • Never used for training
  • The attorney always decides

Who is behind Amara? Amara Legal is developed by Neurogestión SL, a company based in Madrid, Spain (C/ Hermosilla 48) and founded by Miguel Torres. The platform has been in development since 2022, was built with lawyers and is used by law firms in Spain. The United States is part of its international expansion.

01

Why we built it

Attorneys spend too much time on work that does not need their judgment: reading and summarizing documents, building chronologies, writing the same email for the tenth time or tracking down where a lead ended up. Amara exists so that AI does that work inside the matter and attorneys spend their time on what only they can do: decide, counsel and advocate.

02

Our principles

  • The attorney decides. Amara prepares and proposes; review, strategy and signature belong to the professional.
  • Verifiable sources. A reference that cannot be checked is not presented as certain.
  • Data protected, never used for training.
  • No overclaiming. We date our figures and say what is still in preparation.
03

Amara in figures (October 2026)

  • 133 features on one platform.
  • 99 out of 100 correct answers in Spain’s entrance exam for the judiciary and public prosecution service (CGPJ, 2025 call).
  • Almost 3 million legal units in the Spanish corpus, updated daily.
04

Amara in other countries

Amara is available in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Morocco, and in the United States today without the US legal corpus, which is under construction; we are also preparing it for Brazil, France, Italy and Germany, each with its own legal corpus. In every country we start with a group of founding firms who help us adapt Amara to local practice.

05

How long has Amara been in development?

Neurogestión SL has been developing Amara since 2022, so the platform has more than four years of development behind it. It was built with lawyers and is used by law firms in Spain, where it works with a Spanish corpus of almost 3 million legal units. The US version builds on that work.

Amara is led by its founder and managing director, Miguel Torres. The product is shaped with the attorneys who use it: in every country, founding firms tell us what is missing for local practice before we present anything as available.

06

Why the United States?

The US has 1,374,720 active resident attorneys, according to the American Bar Association (ABA National Lawyer Population Survey, 2025): 190,015 in New York, 181,048 in California, 99,867 in Texas and 80,976 in Florida. Amara is priced for solo attorneys and small firms, and designed to grow with firms that have several offices.

US federal law is also published in official and public sources that a legal AI can cite precisely: the U.S. Code, GovInfo, the eCFR, the Federal Register, Congress.gov and the opinions of the Supreme Court. Works of the US federal government are generally not protected by copyright (17 U.S.C. §105), which allows federal texts to be reused.

07

What works in the US today and what is coming soon?

Today, US firms can use the legal copilot, document review, drafting in English, matter management, the CRM, Amara Work, and teams and permissions. Coming soon: the US legal corpus (federal law first, then California, Texas and Florida, followed by New York), Amara’s result on US bar exam questions with the full methodology, and US data hosting for US firms.

In the corpus, each court opinion will carry its court, its jurisdiction and whether it is binding or persuasive authority. We review it with US attorneys before we present any part of it as available. How the US corpus is being built.

08

How we work with firms in a new country

  1. Founding firms first. A small group of US firms uses Amara on real work and tells us what is missing in their state: sources, deadlines, forms and terminology. Founding firms.
  2. Corpus from official and public sources. Federal law first, then state law, state by state, with the version in force on the date of the facts.
  3. Professional duties first. Amara is built so the attorney keeps the duties of competence, confidentiality and supervision described in ABA Formal Opinion 512 (July 2024).
  4. Law schools. Law schools can join a program with their own portal and simulated cases, free of charge in the 2026-2027 academic year. Amara for law schools.
