## How does the programme work?

1. Your university signs up to the programme with Amara Legal.
2. The law school receives its own portal and the lecturer creates the groups.
3. You log in with your group's code, work on the cases your lecturer sets and they follow your progress.

## Why learn legal AI before you graduate?

Law firms and consultancies already work with AI. Knowing how to use it with judgement (preparing a draft, checking the sources and spotting the error) is a real advantage at the start of a career, including when you practise for the SQE with realistic matters.

## What should you practise with legal AI during your degree?

Practise the work a trainee does on a real matter: reading a bundle of documents, building the chronology, finding the provision that applies, drafting a letter or a pleading and then reviewing it. With Amara, the AI prepares the first version and you learn to judge it, correct it and explain why.

1. **Analyse a matter:** facts, documents, deadlines and the risks of each option.
2. **Build an evidence map:** which document proves each fact and what is still missing.
3. **Draft and review:** client letters, requests for documents, letters before claim and pleadings, in English.
4. **Check every reference:** open the source, confirm the section and the version in force on the date of the facts.
5. **Run the file:** clients, tasks and the follow-up of each matter, as a firm does.

## How do you use AI responsibly as a law student?

Treat the AI as a starting point, never as the answer. Check every source it cites, keep your own analysis, tell your lecturer how you used it and never paste real personal data into a general-purpose AI. The decision, and the responsibility for it, stay with you, just as they will with a lawyer.

1. **Verify:** any AI can make mistakes. Amara shows verifiable references so you can confirm each one before you use it.

**Can I use Amara on my own as a student?**

No. Students access Amara through their university's programme. If your law school is not in it yet, you can request it on this page.

**What does my university need to do?**

Contact Amara Legal to design its programme: its own portal, student groups, simulated cases and supervision by lecturers. [Universities page](https://amaralegal.ai/en/ai-for-universities/).

**Are the cases real?**

No. They are fictitious cases based on real situations, with names, details and places changed.

**Does the AI do the work for me?**

No. It prepares drafts and finds sources, but the analysis, the decision and the review are yours. The programme is designed so you learn to use it with judgement.

**How much does it cost?**

The programme is free of charge for universities that join in the 2026-2027 academic year and for students.

**Can I use Amara to prepare for the SQE?**

Amara is not an SQE course. It lets you practise with realistic matters, documents and drafting, which helps you apply what you study in the way practice expects.

**Does it work with the law of England and Wales?**

Amara already analyses and drafts in English. The UK legal corpus is coming soon, starting with England and Wales, and universities in the programme will have access from the start.

**Can it be used in law clinics and seminars?**

Yes. Beyond modules, Amara can be used in law clinics, seminars and teaching innovation projects, if your university includes them in its programme.
